TRAINING OVERVIEW
Since 1984, the College’s Economic Development and Custom Fit Training Department has provided training services to local employers. Custom Fit personnel meet with company representatives to identify the specific needs of the business and employees and then develop and coordinate the delivery of customized training.
Custom Fit works with over 125 companies and provides services to over 3,000 individuals annually. Customized training programs help businesses to build a more productive, highly skilled workforce. Many employers report that their employees have improved morale, take more responsibility, and have a broader understanding of how personal and teamwork success can impact the success of the company. Employees also begin to recognize the importance of contributing their ideas.
Flexibility is a key to the strength of Custom Fit partnerships with business. Programs can be developed to fit any business regardless of the size, level of training difficulty, number of employees, training location, etc.
The cost of this specialized training is affordable and within most employers' budgets. Although companies are asked to fund the cost of training, state funding may be available to eligible companies to help finance some of the expenses.

To ensure that your business receives the maximum benefit through Custom Fit training, the College offers these key services:
Analyzing Business Training Needs
Custom Fit staff will meet with you to review and assess the types of training that will best meet the needs of your organization and employees. As additional support in determining your training needs, these and other services are available:
- Pre-hire skill assessment (written and applied)
- Job profiling
- Work-skills assessment (written and applied)
- Training needs analysis
Designing and Developing Training Programs
Custom Fit staff will work with you to design and develop your customized training program. These and other services are available:
- Determination of appropriate training course or program
- Design and development of program content
- Identification and selection of instructors and training providers
- Selection of training materials; e.g., computer modules, videos, manuals, textbooks, etc.
Identification of training equipment needs - Selection of training location (the College, your business or other training site)
- Build convenient timelines for training events
Delivery of Training Programs and Follow-up
Your training will be coordinated (delivered) by Custom Fit staff according to your specifications. These and other services are available:
- Maintain trainee progress reports
- Certify completion of employee training
- Ensure quality of training services through program supervision and the monitoring of course instruction
- Student and company management evaluations
- Post-training assessment
FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR EMPLOYERS
You may qualify to have a portion of the training costs covered. Each year the Utah State Legislature sets aside funding as an investment in the skill sets of Utah employees. The program has an impressive 20+ year track record of helping companies like yours deliver custom targeted training to employees.
To qualify for State Custom Fit funds, a business must meet one of the following criteria:
- New within the past 12 months
- Increasing its workforce
- In need of upgrade training for its employees
The employees to be trained must be:
- Full-time (32 hours or more per week)
- Make a minimum of $8.50 per hour
There's no painful application process. All you need to do to start the process is give us a call. A Custom Fit Representative can provide additional details about the availability of funds and answer questions about your company’s eligibility.
